Ex-Oregon Football Coach Mark Helfrich Joining Fox Sports As Analyst

You can’t help but ask yourself if this is the job that Les Miles either turned down, or was denied. After Miles announced that his audition with FOX Sports won’t result in his making regular studio appearances, former Oregon football coach Mark Helfrich appears to be set to join the network as an analyst this season.

Nothing has been officially announced as of Tuesday, but the writing is on the wall. News of Helfrich and Fox Sports courting each other hasn’t been kept under wraps, and a source told The Big Lead that the two sides have come to an agreement.

According to the report posted by the USA Today affiliate, the source has asked to be kept anonymous.

The evidence was there all along if you were looking for it, though.

Earlier this week, Fox college football commentator Tim Brando posted a photo of himself and a few of his buds who were out for a day on the links. You’ll notice Helfrich was on the left, just behind Brando.

While Helfrich might have struggled to keep Oregon the superpower that it became under coach Chip Kelly, he’s personable and articulate and should do well in the booth.
