Les Miles was relieved of his duties as the head coach of the LSU Tigers last season, and since then, the grumblings haven’t stopped. Fans, family, and broadcast television have done their best to coax Miles into a suit and tie in the studio.
He decided to give it a try, going in for an audition with FOX.
It seems like it didn’t work out.
According to the Montgomery Advertiser, Miles said he “didn’t want to be conformed.” As articulate, intelligent and affable as Miles is, the man needs his cussin’.
“It’s a struggle when you haven’t had a censor button on the sidelines,” Miles said. “You quickly find out I gave it the old college try, but it’s not going to happen.”
Miles seems like he’d have a natural knack for studio analysts. As you’d expect from a National Championship winning coach, his understanding of the game is unparalleled. The allure of coaching appears too much to overcome, though.
Offers have been slow to materialize since his release from LSU. Finding Miles on the sideline again is inevitable, but when that will happen is difficult to say. What has become clear, though, is that he won’t be breaking down film in front of the camera anytime soon.
