If you need any further proof that the tide is changing, look no further than the preseason All-American totals by conference. Months after defeating the SEC in the National Championship, the ACC leads the way in All-American nods.
On Tuesday, the Associated Press officially released their list of first and second team honorees prior to the season.
- ACC – 7
- SEC – 5
- Big Ten – 4
- Pac-12 – 4
- Big 12 – 3
- American – 1
- Independent – 1
There aren’t many surprises to be found at the quarterback position for the first team. Everyone has been high on Sam Darnold since reports from the NFL Combine claimed that scouts found themselves watching the USC quarterback rather than the defensive player they were actually scouting. He is named as the first team All-American
Saquon Barkely was a relatively safe bet to get a first team nod, but the second first team slot was a close call. Derrius Guice, Nick Chubb, and Bo Scarbrough all had legitimate claims to the nomination. Guice prevailed, with Chubb and Scarbrough being named to the second team.
