On Saturday night, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes and challenger Valentina Shevchenko square off in the main event of UFC 215.
Their headlining bout — which came to fruition after a flyweight championship between Demetrious Johnson and Ray Borg was scrapped at the last minute due to an illness for Borg — is a rematch of the two women’s showdown back at UFC 196 in March of 2016.
In their first meeting, Nunes came away with a unanimous decision victory.
However, the bout was close, and many believe Shevchenko could have pulled off the win with two extra rounds to work. This time around, the bout will be five rounds, so the challenger can look to test Nunes’ gas tank and push the champion to the breaking point.
Ahead of UFC 215, let’s look back at the first meeting between the two headliners to see what we could see tonight.

The UFC 215 pay-per-view main card is set to begin at 10:00 p.m. ET.
