If you want to accuse Vanderbilt football coach Derek Mason of pandering to noted Christian Tim Tebow, you probably have a point. But that doesn’t mean the the comparison isn’t an apt one.
The Vanderbilt Commodores draw their toughest match of the season this week against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Coach Derek Mason and his team appear ready to knock down the giant.
During an interview on SEC Nation Saturday morning, the Nittany Lions leading man busted out a biblical reference for the battle that is ahead of his team today.
Derek Mason on SEC Nation to Tim Tebow: "David didn't run away from Goliath, he ran to Goliath. Today we're going to run to the giant."

Vanderbilt’s confidence is at an all-time high after starting the season 3-0. That includes a 42-0 shutout over Alabama A&M in the second week of the season, and a 14-7 victory against a talented Kansas State team last week.
The Commodores have fared well historically against the Crimson Tide: 3-0. But the two sides haven’t squared off since 1969, and a lot has changed since then. Pundits are expecting one-way traffic in this game, with Goliath using David to pick food out of his teeth.
Kickoff is set for 3:30 from Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee. You never know.
