Georgia Tech football coach Paul Johnson had the perfect response to the ongoing FBI investigation into a college basketball bribery scandal.
With reports that college coaches were funneling money to top recruits with the help of adidas, Johnson decided to take a shot directly at Georgia Tech’s apparel sponsor, Russell Athletic.
During an appearance on on the David Glenn Show, Johnson joked he was finally happy to be part of the Russell family.
Paul Johnson: When the FBI/CBB stuff broke, for once in my life, I said I’m glad we’re with Russell Athletic.

Well played.
Interestingly enough, Georgia Tech’s deal with Russell Athletic expires after next season. The school will then switch to, you guessed it, adidas.
But hey, Johnson should show a little more respect in the future.
After all, Russell Athletic is a sponsor for the Harlem Globetrotters. If Russell is good enough for the Globetrotters, they’re good enough for the Yellow Jackets.
