The UGA football program scored big on the recruiting trail Friday morning.
Justin Fields, a five-star quarterback from Kennesaw, Georgia, announced on Friday that he has committed to play for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Fields is the No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2018.
The dual-threat signal-caller was previously committed to Penn State, but reopened his recruiting over the summer. Now, he will be staying close to home.

Fields will be joining his sister, who plays softball for the Bulldogs, in Athens.
“Georgia is a great school, it’s my home school,” Fields said, as transcribed by Rivals.com. “My sister is committed there for softball. Coach Kirby, he does a great job with the defense and I feel like he’s going to start kinda changing the culture there and winning more games and making it to the SEC Championship. I feel like he’s starting to turn the program around.”
This marks the third straight recruiting cycle that Georgia has landed a five-star quarterback, joining Jacob Eason andJake Fromm.
It’s safe to say Kirby Smart and his staff know how to recruit.
