This morning, Tim Tebow gave a rousing speech to the Tennessee football program to try to will them to victory over Alabama. His remedy? They needed to have more heart than their more talented, better coached opponent.
This… isn’t that.
Looking to get creative against the Crimson Tide, the Volunteers turned to the tried and true flea flicker. Hoping to suck the defensive backfield into the run, the streaking wide receivers will hopefully be open for a huge gain.
Everything went as planned for the Volunteers on this play, except that the receivers didn’t run down field and the play became nothing more than a scramble back to the line of scrimmage.

As uncomfortable as it may be, this is the kind of play that has people wanting coach Butch Jones to be fired. It’s one thing to be outgunned by a better recruited, more talented football team. It’s another thing to beat yourself with mental mistakes.
That’s what happened here, and Tennessee figures to have a long afternoon ahead of them if they can’t get their head out of the clouds against the best team in the country.
