The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to the Big Apple on Saturday, for UFC 217 at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York City. The pay-per-view, one of the most stacked of 2017, is headlined by a championship triple-header.
In the main event, middleweight champion Michael Bisping prepares to put his title on the line against one of the best to ever step inside of the Octagon, former welterweight king Georges St-Pierre. St-Pierre has been out of action for nearly four years, with his last outing coming on Nov. 16, 2013. In that fight, St-Pierre retained his welterweight title with a controversial split-decision victory over Johny Hendricks. GSP is moving up a weight class for the bout.
Rivals Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw will battle it out in the co-main event, with “No Love” putting his belt up for grabs against his former Team Alpha Male training partner. There is plenty of bad blood and the added intensity leads to what promises to be a thrilling fight.
The third and final championship bout of the night comes in the women’s strawweight division.
115-pound champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will be taking on top contender Rose Namajunas, who fell short in his first championship opportunity against Carla Esparza in Dec. 2014. Jedrzejczyk later claimed the belt from Esparza and has had a stranglehold on the championship since. If Jedrzejczyk comes away victorious on Saturday, she will tie Ronda Rousey’s record of most consecutive title defenses in a women’s division.

UFC 217 Embedded Episode 1 gives an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at main event participants Michael Bisping, the current middleweight champion, and former welterweight king Georges St-Pierre’s final prepartions for Saturday night’s pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden.
Bisping can be seen getting in some final sparring in the gym, before giving a critique of GSP’s skills on the silver screen. St-Pierre, meanwhile, shows off some training under legendary boxing coach Freddie Roach.
