Papa John's CEO Says NFL Protests Are Hurting Pizza Sales

Papa John himself is angry with the NFL.
In an unintentionally hilarious quarterly conference call, Papa John’s CEO John Schnatter went on a rant regarding NFL protests and even went as far as to say that since protests weren’t “nipped in the bud” a year ago that his pizza sales are suffering.
The company’s stock price has fallen 5 percent since the beginning of the NFL season and Schnatter blames the NFL leadership for the struggles.
Is this real life?
“The NFL has hurt us,” Schnatter said, as transcribed by Sports Illustrated. “We are disappointed the NFL and its leadership did not resolve this. Leadership starts at the top and this is an example of poor leadership.”
We can all agree that NFL leadership has been questionable at times. That much is true, but perhaps rather than worrying about the most successful professional sports league in the country, Schnatter should be worrying about his own issues.
Do NFL protests hurt pizza sales? We may never know. But what is true is that serving rubbery pizzas which require being dipped in garlic sauce in order to be edible definitely has a negative impact.
