Vols football fans are going to want to look away from the latest Jon Gruden rumors.
While at one point it appeared that the former NFL head coach and Tennessee graduate assistant could be interested in the head coaching vacancy, with some reports indicating an offer was already crafted, a new report brings all of those hopes crashing down.
In a report from Football Scoop, Gruden has made no indication that he is interested or willing to take the Vols job.
From Football Scoop:
Jon Gruden has no interest in being the next head coach at Tennessee. This is not happening. No one is being contacted about potentially joining his staff. Move on Vol fans…
This comes after Pete Thamel of Yahoo! Sports said anyone who says Gruden is a legit option at Tennessee “should be charged with journalistic negligence.”
Sorry, Vols fans.
So who could land in Knoxville? The report mentions Duke’s David Cutcliffe and P.J. Fleck of Minnesota as potential options.
