Vols Football Rumors: Peyton Manning Pitching Job To Mike Gundy

The search for a new Vols football coach appears to be zeroing in on Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy.
And a Tennessee legend is getting involved.
According to a report from college football insider Brett McMurphy, Peyton Manning has been pitching Gundy on the head coaching vacancy in Knoxville.
If anyone can sell the Vols program, it’s Peyton Manning. After all, we are talking about a man who has used his skills as a pitchman to convince people to order cardboard covered in cheese — sorry, Papa John’s.
Gundy previously showed interest in the Tennessee job when he met with the program in 2013 before ultimately returning to Stillwater. That’s when the Vols decided to hire Butch Jones.
That experiment obviously didn’t work out, so now Gundy is once again in the mix.
Unfortunately for Vols fans, they are going to be left waiting on news regarding Gundy, because he is not expected to make a decision today. But hey, at least the next Tennessee head coach won’t be Greg Schiano.
