As the search for a new Tennessee Vols football coach continues, Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy and his glorious mullet have reportedly become the focus of the search.
According to Tennessee insider Jimmy Hyams, Gundy has been contacted and interviewed for the job.
The development comes after the Greg Schiano debacle and two coaches — Duke’s David Cutcliffe and Iowa State’s Matt Campbell — turning down the job.
With Duke's David Cutcliffe and Iowa State's Matt Campbell out of the picture, Tennessee has turned its coaching search focus to Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy. Three sources told me UT has interviewed Gundy, perhaps in Dallas. UT offered Gundy in 2012 but he said declined.

But before Volunteers fans get too excited about the possibility, Yahoo! Sports’ Pete Thamel has some concerns about how well Gundy and athletic director John Currie would mesh together.
He and Currie would not be a good match, as they are about as similar as Donald Trump and Barack Obama. Gundy has been openly petulant with his bosses for years in Stillwater, which isn’t attractive to future employers (and Currie knows this well from his tenure in the Big 12).
That doesn’t sound promising.
Tennessee fans, meanwhile, seem to have made their preference of either Lane Kiffin or Tee Martin very clear, so we will have to see which direction the administration eventually turns.
