Dave Doeren Turns Down Vols Football Job, Returns To NC State

And another one. The search for a new Vols football coach has misfired yet again, with NC State’s Dave Doeren decided to turn down Tennessee and return to Raleigh.
Doeren is expected to receive a new contract from the Wolfpack, according to Adam Rittenberg of ESPN.
While flirting with the Tennessee vacancy, Doeren and NC State, who have reportedly been working on a contract extension for the past few weeks, were finally able to come to an agreement.
In five seasons leading the Wolfpack, Doeren has an overall record of 33-30. This season, NC State finished the regular season 8-4. The 45-year-old coach previously led Northern Illinois to a 23-4 mark in two seasons.
Who knows where Tennessee will go from here.
The Vols first suffered through the Greg Schiano debacle, before being turned down by Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy.
Does anyone want to coach in Knoxville?
