The Louisville football team will be without standout defensive back Jaire Alexander for the team’s TaxSlayer Bowl matchup with Mississippi State on Dec. 30.
The program announced on Friday that the junior has decided to skip the bowl game in order to stay healthy and focus on preparing for the 2018 NFL Draft.
“I know it was a very difficult decision for Jaire,” head coach Bobby Petrino said in a statement. “I appreciate the contributions he made to the program over the last three seasons and I wish him all the best in the future.”
