Members of the Michigan and South Carolina football programs nearly got into a brawl during a bowling event ahead of their Jan. 1 matchup in the 2018 Outback Bowl at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.
For one reason or another, tempers flared and the two teams began jawing at each other.
Eventually, things escalated to a point where cops were called to separate the two teams. Because of the near scuffle, the event was ended early.
Of course, local television news crews were there filming the event, so it didn’t take long for some footage to surface online.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you drum up some extra excitement and hype ahead of a bowl game. While some postseason matchups lack any real intensity, Michigan and South Carolina now have some hatred entering their game.
Who would have guessed a bowling event would bring the extra heat for a football game?
We’re not complaining, though.
Kickoff between the Wolverines and Gamecocks on Monday, Jan. 1 is set for 12:00 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
