UFC flyweight Tim Elliott was fighting with a heavy heart on Saturday night at UFC 219.
Earlier this moth, Elliott’s coach, Robert Follis, committed suicide. Follis was a mentor to Elliott and many other fighters at Xtreme Couture, but he had really developed a special bond with Elliott who was looking to further his career.
So when Elliott scored an impressive win over Mark De La Rosa via anaconda choke at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, he took a moment to honor his coach.
“Robert Follis, I love you,” the No. 11 flyweight said during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.
“Thank you for everything”
Here’s video of Elliott’s emotional comments.
