Tua Tagovailoa started the second half for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game on Monday night, but first led the offense to a three-and-out.
However, when the true freshman quarterback trotted onto the field for the second series of the half, he came through in a big way as Nick Saban’s gamble paid off.
Tagovailoa, a dual-threat five-star quarterback, first showed off the creativity with his legs and his evasiveness to earn a first down after a wild run where he seemed dead in the water.

Just a few plays later, Tagovailoa found fellow freshman Henry Ruggs III in the back of the endzone for the Crimson Tide’s first touchdown of the game.

The touchdown pulled Alabama within one score of the Bulldogs midway through the third quarter.
