College Football Recruit Arrested, Facing Capital Murder Charge

Jessie Altman, a 17-year-old three-star college football recruit, is facing a capital murder charge.

According to The Gadsden Times, the defensive tackle prospect is one of five men arrested in connection to the murder of a man who was found shot to death in his car.

While authorities have not commented publicly about the crime that led to the arrests, it is known that Gadsden police were looking for additional suspects in the murder last week of Aaron “A.J.” Huff, 18, of Gadsden.

Police already charged two teens in connection with Huff’s slaying.

Kalab Blake Whitworth, 16, of Gadsden, was arrested Monday evening. Tyler Michael Abbott, 17, of Hanceville, was arrested the day after the slaying. Both have been charged as adults, according to Gadsden Police Sgt. John Hallman.

Altman had offers from programs like Alabama, Florida State, South Carolina and Oregon. He was ranked as the 22nd best prospect in the state of Alabama.
