John Calipari did something he has never done as Kentucky basketball coach on Tuesday evening.

During the Wildcats’ pre-game shootaround in South Carolina, Calipari lined up and drained a halfcourt shot. According to Twitter, it was the head coach’s first make from midcourt after taking over the program in 2009.

The Wildcats’ official Twitter account added that it was the first time since prior to the 2008 national championship game between Memphis and Kansas that Calipari made the shot.

Check out the shot and the reactions from Calipari’s players below:

Well done, Coach Cal.

The No. 19 Wildcats take on South Carolina on ESPN tonight with tip-off set for 9:00 p.m. ET. They’ll be hoping that Calipari’s luck continues throughout the night and translates to a strong shooting performance for the team.
