The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to network television on Saturday night with UFC on FOX 27 in Charlotte.
The main event of UFC on FOX 27 features a top ten matchup in the middleweight division with No. 3 Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. No. 8 Derek Brunson.
It’s a rematch between the two, with Souza earning a 41 second knockout when they first met back in 2012 under the Strikeforce banner.
Souza (24-5, 1 NC) is looking to bounce back from a loss to current middleweight champion Robert Whittaker last spring. Prior to his loss to Whittaker, Jacare was on a two-fight winning streak and had victories in 10 of his last 11 bouts.
Brunson (18-5), meanwhile, enters the fight on a two-fight winning streak with his most recent outing earning a Performance of the Night bonus after scoring a knockout over former light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida in under three minutes.
In the co-main event, No. 11-ranked featherweight Dennis Bermudez faces Andre Fili.
The main card is rounded out by a lightweight bout between Jordan Rinaldi and Gregor Gillespie, along with a welterweight scrap between Drew Dober and Frank Camacho.
