It was a busy and wild weekend in college basketball which will be reflected when the brand new AP Top 25 Poll is released by the Associated Press on Monday afternoon, but entering the week we have just one ranked matchup on the day.
The good news is that the Big 12 clash features two ranked teams going head-to-head.
It is the second time meeting this season for the No. 15 West Virginia Mountaineers and No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners, who are trying to get their seasons back on track and avoid losing all footing in the Big 12 conference race.
“It’s such a grind,” Sooners coach Lon Kruger said, via ESPN.com. “Every night out, it’s amazing how many games swing in the last 30 seconds. That’s the nature of the league and it’s exciting.”
When the two teams met previously, West Virginia scored an 89-76 win. However, since then the Mountaineers have lost five of their last seven games. Oklahoma, meanwhile, has suffered defeat in four of its last six outings so it is crucial for both teams to heat up at the right time with the NCAA Tournament and conference tournaments just around the corner.
Other Power Five matchups on the day include a clash between former college basketball powerhouses Syracuse and Louisville, and a Big Ten meeting between the Indiana Hoosiers and Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
