Derrius Guice entered the 2018 NFL Draft as one of the top running back prospects and a potential first-round pick. However, Day 1 came and went without the former LSU Tigers star hearing his name called. When Day 2 kicked off on Friday night, it was believed that Guice would come off of the board early. Unfortunately, he continued his freefall until the Washington Redskins made him their pick at No. 59 overall.
Why did Guice fall so far in the draft? There were initial rumors that TMZ was holding a bombshell report about the running back, but the celebrity gossip site quickly denied those rumors.
But another report surfaced that may shed some light on what caused Guice to fall late into the second round.
First, there were reports that Guice isĀ “high maintenance” and “immature.”

There were also other reports that categorized Guice as lazy and dishonest while claiming that he got into an altercation during one of his official pre-draft visits.
“He got into an altercation at a meeting with the Eagles. He had several meetings where he came across lazy only wants to play video games. We caught a direct dishonesty from him in our meeting,” a league source told NFL insider Benjamin Allbright.
That would obviously show questionable judgment from the prospect, but Washington ultimately fell comfortable enough to pull the trigger when they were on the clock in Round 2. We will have to see if any additional information comes out and whether the reports of an alleged altercation prove to be true.
The 2018 NFL Draft runs through Saturday, April 28 on ESPN and the NFL Network.
