The 2018 NBA Draft is just over 24 hours away and the rumors are swirling. As the top draft prospects wait to learn where they will begin their professional careers when their names are called at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, it appears as though a number of them are hoping to avoid one specific franchise.
Jonathan Givony recently discussed the top prospects and said that a number of top prospects are “openly trying to avoid” being drafted by the Sacramento Kings.
To back up his claim, Givony says players like Luka Doncic and Jaren Jackson Jr. have not provided medical information to the Kings.
“Who even wants to go to Sacramento? Because a lot of the top guys in this draft are openly trying to avoid going there. Jaren Jackson, Mo Bamba, (Luka) Doncic — no medical for Sacramento,” Givony said during an appearance on ESPN’s The Lowe Post podcast. “So, if they’re going to take one of these guys, they’re taking him blindly without knowing what is this person’s medical status going to be down the road.”
Marvin Bagley III of Duke is the only top prospect to reportedly give Sacramento his medical info, so it looks like he should be the favorite to head out west when the draft takes place on Thursday night.
The 2018 NBA Draft takes place Thursday, June 21, with coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
