Wake up, it’s Wednesday, Aug. 15. College life can be busy, so at times it can be tough to keep up with the daily news cycle. That’s why we bring you Campus Connect, where you can catch the latest news in college sports and entertainment to keep on top of the buzz that everyone on campus will be talking about.

What happened last night? What events are coming up today? We have you covered with all of that and more.

Let’s dive right in.

College Sports News

The 2018 college football schedule is just around the corner and ESPN is preparing for a loaded slate of games that sets up to be one of the most exciting opening weekends across the nation in recent memory. This year, opening weekend will span across five days beginning on Thursday, Aug. 30 and concluding on Monday, Sept. 3 with Virginia Tech at Florida State in primetime.

The 2018 college football season is rapidly approaching and one of the final preseason award watch lists has been released. On Tuesday, Aug. 14, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award watch list was unveiled by The Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. The award honors the best quarterback in college football annually since 1987.

Entertainment News

What is the most important lesson you will learn in college? With classes starting up across the country and students preparing to head to campus for the fall semester — possibly for the first time in their college careers — there are plenty of unknowns and circumstances that you may never have expected to find yourself in. But at the end of the day, the goal remains the same: get your education and diploma before heading out into the real world.

Zion Williamson is an athletic freak. Since the time he was 16 years old, the standout forward was an internet sensation thanks to his high-flying dunks and ability to dominate opponents. During his high school career, we would consistently see Williamson clowning opponents and throwing down some of the most impressive in-game dunks you will ever see. Now that he has committed to play for the Duke Blue Devils, we shouldn’t expect any of that to change.
