It’s Woman Crush Wednesday, which means it’s time to take a look at the college world and appreciate some of the standout students and/or athletes across the nation. Every week, we feature a college student that stands out among their peers. This week, we feature Delaney Smith, a member of the Long Beach State track and field team.
Delaney, who is a junior from Grass Valley, California, competes in the heptathlon.
She is majoring in fashion merchandising.

2017 (Sophomore): Competed in the high jump and long jump during the 2017 outdoor season … Finished with a 5-01.75 in the high jump at the Beach Invitational, while posting 16-02.25 in the long jump at the LBSU-UCLA dual meet … Competed in seven indoor events in 2017 … Finished with a personal best of 28.48 in the 200m at the Air Force Team Challenge … Logged a time of 2:48.45 in the 800m at the MPSF Championships … Ran the 60H at the Air Force Team Challenge, with a time of 9.84 … Competed in the high jump at the MPSF Championships, finishing with a distance of 5-01.00 … Also did the long jump at the MPSF Championships, finishing with a mark of 15-07.00 … Had a PR in the shot put with a throw of 30-11.75 at the MPSF Championships … Recorded her personal-best pentathlon score of 2,844 at the MPSF Championships … Also earned Big West All-Academic honors.
