Wake up, it’s Wednesday, Sept. 12, and the weekend is rapid approaching. College life can be busy, so at times it can be tough to keep up with the daily news cycle. That’s why we bring you Campus Connect, where you can catch the latest news in college sports and entertainment to keep on top of the buzz that everyone on campus will be talking about.

What happened last night? What events are coming up today? We have you covered with all of that and more.

Let’s dive right in.

College Sports News

With Hurricane Florance closing in on the East coast, a number of college football programs across the country have either delayed, rescheduled, or canceled this weekend’s games in order to allow first responders to be available and to allow people to evacuate the areas. Here is a running list of the games that have been impacted so far.

Another week of college football is in the books, and while we prepare for another busy weekend of action across the country it is time to look back at the top performers from a week ago. On Tuesday, Sept. 11, the Maxwell Football Club did just that by handing out its Players of the Week awards for the Maxwell Award and Chuck Bednarik Award.

Being an NFL player has its perks. Just ask former Ohio State star and current Seattle Seahawks tight end Erza Haliti. Haliti is a former Miss Idaho World and Miss Idaho USA who is currently a pageant coach.

Entertainment News

Hip hop fans have been waiting to see what is next for the beef between Eminem and Machine Gun Kelly. On Eminem’s surprise album Kamikaze, he took aim at a number of current rappers in the game. That led to MGK releasing a diss track directed at Eminem titled “Rap Devil.” On Tuesday night, Silm Shady finally shared his first public reaction.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s next pay-per-view appearance will be on Saturday, Oct. 6 with UFC 229. In the main event of UFC 229, former two-division champion Conor McGregor makes his long-awaited return to the Octagon when he faces off against undefeated lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov in the main event. Here is how you can enter to win tickets.

Every now and then, there is a running back who is playing out of his mind and no one is able to take them down. This highlight is no different, with the player running through everyone on the defense.

Okay, usually this place is reserved for foods, but today we couldn’t overlook this gem of a beer from Barrel Brothers Brewing. The brewery, located in Sonoma County, Calif., has dropped its “Sour Skettles” beer which is a kettle sour gose with pink guava. And I need about ten right now.
