Who Is Robert Bowers? Alabama Football Fan Dies After Bar Fight Over LSU Game

Two LSU football fans have been arrested in connection to the death of 46-year-old Robert Bowers, an Alabama Crimson Tide fan. A physical altercation broke out after the Crimson Tide defeated LSU on Saturday, November 3. The two men arrested have been identified as Azia Crockett, 27, and Ryan Anthony, 24.
Both men have been charged with one count of felony manslaughter. They turned themselves in to authorities and were booked in Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
The Ponchatoula Police Department confirmed Bowers passed away from his injuries on Tuesday, November 6.
From the Advocate:

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson said he believes the incident began as a verbal argument between Bowers and Crockett over the LSU-Alabama football game, although witnesses could not say for sure what it was about. Bowers was an Alabama fan, while the two suspects are LSU fans, he said. The chief said Bowers’ niece was escorted from the bar by a bouncer, and then the fight began.
“Anthony struck Bowers in the head, knocked him unconscious,” Layrisson said. “He went to the ground and Azia Crockett punched him multiple times, as well.”

Police believe Anthony struck Bowers in the head and knocked him unconscious. Once on the ground, Crockett joined in and repeatedly punched Bowers as well. A Ponchatoula Volunteer Fireman provided immediate medical assistance until an ambulance arrived.
Bowers was then taken to University Medical Center in critical condition where he was placed on life support.
Our deepest condolences are with the Bowers family during this incredibly difficult and tragic time.
