Tennessee defensive lineman signee Jonathan Kongbo is built like a monster at 6-foot-6, 265 pounds, and is equally strong. In a video posted to Kongbo’s Twitter, the young man can be seen squatting 405 pounds quite easily.

That’s pretty amazing. Tennessee’s defense was already pretty strong in 2015, ranking 25th in points allowed per game but just 45th in total defense. And suddenly, we see why Butch Jones recruited Kongbo so hard out of Arizona Western College.
But look at it this way. Kongbo is now set to star on a defensive line that also features 6-foot-3, 344 pound Kahlil McKenzie and stud pass-rusher Derek Barnett. If that doesn’t make the Vols’ front seven immediately dangerous, then the definition of strong defense has certainly changed.
Either way, one thing is certain. Kongo is surely going to be an immediate impact player in Knoxville in 2016.
