A promising young football player suffered a life-altering, unspeakable tragedy last week. According to reports, former San Ramon Valley High School (Calif.) star Jake Javier, who was recruited by Cal Poly, suffered a broken neck in a pool accident that has left him paralyzed from the chest down.
Javier’s aunt, Diane Blardony, confirmed the news. The accident took place on the eve of his graduation.
“He, for sure, is not going to walk again, but we do hope that—once he is awake and over time—he will regain use of his hands,” Blardony said.
Reports state “Javier fell from a hot tub into his friend’s pool and hit his head, and had to be airlifted to a nearby hospital.”
Javier will remain in the intensive care unit for the next few days as the long-term impact of this accident is determined.
Hopefully Javier will be able to make a miraculous recovery. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this difficult time.
