The Alabama Crimson Tide really cannot afford to get any more bad news ahead of the 2016 season. They already have to deal with an NCAA investigation after self-reporting violations last week and now, they have to deal with their third transfer this summer in the form of redshirt freshman linebacker Adonis Thomas.
It was reported late Wednesday night that Thomas would be seeking a transfer out of Alabama this year. AL.com reported the news, citing an unnamed source, and it was likely due to limited playing time in the near future.
Thomas could see the writing on the wall as the Crimson Tide still have juniors Shaun Dion Hamilton and Rashaan Evans as well as 2016 five-star recruit Ben Davis on the roster. He is now looking to make a big difference elsewhere once he makes the transfer.
Adonis Thomas is planning to play the junior college level this year before transferring back into the FBS level in 2017, when he would have three years of eligibility left to play. He is the third Alabama player to transfer this summer, joining defensive backs Maurice Smith and Shawn Burgess-Becker.
