Georgia DE Jonathan Ledbetter arrested for DUI, possession charges

Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart has an unwanted situation to deal with after defensive end Jonathan Ledbetter was arrested by Athens-Clarke County Police for suspicion of of driving under the influence of alcohol and underage possession of alcohol.

Ledbetter was arrested early Sunday morning, according to macon.com.

“Ledbetter’s bail will total $2,000, with $1,500 of it on the DUI charge and $500 on the underage possession charge,” the report stated.

There is no word on whether Ledbetter will face punishment from the program, but it would not come as a surprise. In March, Ledbetter was also arrested for underage possession of alcohol, but those charges were later dismissed.

This time around, Kirby Smart and company may have to come down with some discipline to send a message.

We will have to see what’s next for the 6-foot-4, 251-pounder, but he was expected to be a key contributor for the Bulldogs defense and he will hope that stands.
