Malik Williams, a top-rated four-star player from Fort Wayne, Indiana, committed to the University of Louisville’s basketball program Thursday afternoon.
He broke the news through today’s preferred medium: Twitter.

The 6-foot-11 behemoth is a member of the class of 2017 and is the 42nd-ranked prospect in ESPN’s Top 100.
The Indiana product, the eighth-ranked center in the country, turned down offers from North Carolina State, Georgetown, UCLA, Michigan State, Purdue, Iowa and even his localĀ Hoosiers.
It’s interesting to see a player so hellbent on playing for Louisville and head coach Rick Pitino, since the program is going through a turbulent period at the moment.
In late 2015, news broke that a former Cardinals coaching staff member, Andre McGee had between the years of 2010 and 2014 paid for escort services for potential recruits while they were staying at the university for tours.Ā The program imposed a self-ban from the post-season the following year and has taken away a few of its own scholarships for this upcoming year as well.
Newman and his new team will look to dispel the dark cloud hovering over their heads this season in a packed ACC conference.
