A bad week for Baylor just got worse. After an underperforming Texas team handed them their first loss of the season and effectively put the kibosh on any hopes of sneaking into the CFP, they may have lost their starting quarterback.
Seth Russell is set to undergo the concussion protocol after sustaining a vicious hit in the second half of the Baylor Bears game against the Longhorns. Russell remained in for the rest of the game but his status has come into question following it’s conclusion.
Grobe says he feels Seth Russell will play vs. TCU but will go through concussion protocol testing this week.

Hopefully Russell is physically able to play and isn’t forced out onto the field before he is ready. Coach Jim Grobe seems confident that his starting quarterback will be available, but ultimately it will be up to the team doctors to make that decision. Russell has already undergone a CT scan which came back negative.
There is an added level of concern for Seth Russell as he sustained a fairly serious neck injury last season against Iowa State. The injury forced him to miss a total of 6 games. They will likely proceed with caution to avoid causing any further permanent damage that may have already been done.
