On Friday, just one day before the Wisconsin Badgers are set to go up against the Kentucky Wildcats, the No. 1 overall seed in the 2015 NCAA Tournament, Badgers star Frank Kaminsky was honored with the Oscar Robertson Player of the Year award.
The award was given out by the United States Basketball Writers Association.
Kaminsky was also named the AP Player of the Year.
“This is obviously a great award and I am honored to receive it,” Kaminsky said after receiving the award. “I have to thank my family, who have really helped me grow as a person and grow as a basketball player. I’m just so honored to receive this award.”
Kaminsky enters the Final Four on Saturday as Wisconsin’s leader in scoring (18.7 ppg), rebounding (8.0 rpg) and assists.
You can watch video of Kaminsky receiving his award below, with the first question going from teammate Nigel Hayes, who is apparently “Badger Beats Writer, Intersquad Relations.”.
