A shortstop prospect, Murray was expected to be a first-round pick in the draft. Instead, he’ll stay in school and play both sports, a la former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.

He will also be tasked with bringing the Aggies back into the national spotlight after the team stumbled last season, what with star quarterback Johnny Manziel and top wideout Mike Evans having been drafted into the NFL.

Texas A&M started 5-0 last year, but then stumbled to an 8-5 (3-5 SEC) overall record. Quarterback Kenny Hill was under center until being replaced by Kyle Allen and subsequently suspended two games for a rules violation.

The team earned a trip to the Autozone Liberty Bowl, where it defeated West Virginia.
