Nikki Bella did retain her Divas Championship at Money In The Bank tonight, but not before challenger Paige won by disqualification. This was thanks to Nikki’s sister Brie doing the team’s signature “Twin Magic,” coming out from under the apron to replace her exhausted and beaten up sister in the ring.
Brie then rolled up Paige for a pinfall, only to be countered and pinned by Paige. The crowd exploded before Brie revealed the deception to the referee, who quickly reversed the decision as a shocked Paige looked at her faux-opponent, who then proceeded to take what looked like tissue paper out of her top. Nikki then came back in the ring and dropped Paige with the Rack Attack.
Despite having the belt practically stolen from her, Paige looked great in this match. She matched the champion move for move and even managed to get her signature Paige Tap Out (PTO) and RamPaige into the mix.
Just what happens next for her remains to be seen. Maybe a rematch on Raw tomorrow night for the belt is in the cards, or a match at the July pay-per-view, Battleground, with Brie banned from ringside.
Either way, Paige is setting herself up for a long and wonderful career in the WWE and at this point, it’s only a matter of time before she ties Eve Torres and AJ Lee’s record for most reigns as Divas Champion.
