New Orleans Saints star quarterback Drew Brees is not forgetting his roots.
In a statement released on Friday, the Purdue Boilermakers announced that they have accepted a significant donation from Brees and his wife, Brittany.
The donation — which will help to fund the school’s Purdue Football Master Plan — was a whopping $1 million.
“We care so much about Purdue University,” Brees said in a released statement. “Purdue has meant so much to me, and it has provided so many things. From the education I received and playing for coach Joe Tiller, to winning a Big Ten championship and going to the Rose Bowl, to the relationships I was able to form with many of my teammates and meeting my beautiful wife … we are so blessed and so thankful.”
The master plan is the brainchild of athletics director Morgan Burke and head coach Darrell Hazell, who hope to raise money to improve the university’s facilities.
With the donation from Brees, Purdue is making some serious progress with their funding. Hopefully more alumni will get on board.
