Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield offers refreshing take on racism

Tragedy struck Charleston, South Carolina when 21-year-old Dylann Roof open fired on Wednesday night during a prayer meeting and claimed the lives of nine African American church goers.

Since the shooting, there has been plenty of discussion about racial issues in America and one of the most refreshing takes came from an unlikely source.

Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield took to social media to share his thoughts on the issues which have led to countless tragedies across the nation. Mayfield’s words expressed incredible maturity and show that you can discuss the issues with grace and class.

It’s unfortunate that such a tragedy has to take place for intelligent discussion on the topic, but it is great to see someone like Mayfield showing maturity well beyond his years.

Hopefully people will read his message and learn to be more accepting.
