Former Kentucky Wildcats guard Aaron Harrison will play for the Charlotte Hornets in this year’s NBA Summer League. The Hornets made an announcement yesterday and Harrison’s alma mater offered its congratulations on Twitter today.

This means that Harrison will have the opportunity to earn an NBA roster spot despite going unselected in last week’s NBA Draft. His twin brother Andrew was picked 44th overall by the Phoenix Suns before having his rights traded to the Memphis Grizzlies.
In two years with the Wildcats, Aaron Harrison averaged 12.3 points and shot 41 percent from the field, plus 34 percent from long range.
He will now have an opportunity to earn a roster spot on a Hornets team that has a hole at the 2 since Gerald Henderson was sent to the Portland Trail Blazers in the Nicolas Batum trade.
Harrison has the size for the position at 6-foot-6, 212 pounds and earned a reputation in college for hitting clutch shots when they mattered most.
So long as he works hard and doesn’t treat the Summer League like college ball, as in throw up three-point attempt after three-point attempt, Harrison could very well be on the Hornets’ roster by the start of training camp in the fall.
