Ohio State Buckeyes head coach Urban Meyer recently spoke to Tim May of the Columbus Post-Dispatch and gave an update on the health of quarterbacks Braxton Miller and J.T. Barrett.
“The only thing that’s different is Braxton is pretty close to full speed,” Meyer said. “J.T., I’d probably say, is 95 percent. That was the biggest thing, to get them all healthy and get them ready to go.”
Ohio State is set to have the ultimate quarterback controversy in training camp this summer, as Miller and Barrett will be competing for the starting job under center as will Cardale Jones, the third-stringer who took over after Barrett broke his ankle in November and ultimately led the team to a national championship as a No. 4 seed. Miller, on the other hand, is trying to work his way back after missing all of last season with a shoulder injury.
Miller also told May that he will announce his immediate plans for the future next week, as he has the option to transfer to a new program and play immediately since he has graduated. Either way, it’s shaping up to be an interesting summer in Columbus.
Ohio State opens 2015 on September 7 with a visit to Lane Stadium to take on Virginia Tech.
