Jerian Grant honors Notre Dame when signing contract

New York Knicks rookie guard Jerian Grant was a star at Notre Dame before being selected 19th overall in this year’s NBA Draft, and he clearly has not forgotten how much he meant to the university and vice versa.

In a picture posted on his Instagram, Grant can be seen wearing a Notre Dame ACC Champions shirt as he signs his first-ever NBA contract.

Grant was a star for the Fighting Irish for four-plus seasons, averaging 14.5 points, 5.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 44 percent from the field and 34.5 percent from long range. On the Knicks, he is expected to play both point and shooting guard and be a key player in the team’s triangle offense.

Thanks to his averaging 16.5 points, 6.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game this past season, Notre Dame made the Elite Eight and won its first ACC title under head coach Mike Brey.

Thus, though Grant won’t ever play for the Fighting Irish again, it’s great to see that he clearly valued his time in South Bend and has not forgotten the program that helped him achieve his dream of making it to the NBA.
