The heels reigned supreme on the Night of Champions kickoff show as the Cosmic Wasteland of Stardust and the Ascension defeated Neville and the Lucha Dragons, extending this comic book-like saga for at least another week or two.
The Ascension got the ball rolling with Konor taking it to Sin Cara, who countered with some Flair chops before tagging in Kalisto. After a fancy drop. Stardust got involved and put Kalisto down with a drop.
Then, it was Viktor’s turn, who booted the high flyer into the corner before tagging in Konor, who kicked him again before tagging in Stardust, who jumped off from the top rope and landed on Kalisto.
But Kalisto then rallied before an intense staredown occurred between all involved. The Ascension charged while Neville stood pat, and then the Lucha Dragons kicked the Wastelanders out of the ring as Neville did the same to Stardust.
Following a commercial break, Stardust adn Kalisto were in the ring together and going back and forth with each other, so much that Kalisto missed a tag to Viktor. Konor was then tagged in, and Irish-whipped Kalisto into Viktor’s knee. But Kalisto then kicked out of a pinfall attempt.
It was Stardust’s turn again, as he nailed Kalisto with a knee to the lower back before putting him in an armbar, which was eventually countered.
After much back-and-forth, it was finally Neville’s turn to get involved with Stardust, who had been tormenting him endlessly since July. He was on full offense and hit Stardust with a backflip off the top rope, only to be interrupted by Konor once a pinfall was attempted.
It was then Stardust’s turn on offense, though Neville did counter and go for the Red Arrow. But Konor interrupted, which gave Stardust the opening for the signature Falling Star and pinfall victory.
Just what happens next remains to be seen. The Cosmic Wasteland currently reigns Supreme, but this feud is far from over. Look for the rubber match to happen either in the next couple of weeks or at Hell in a Cell in October.
