Through the first two weeks, an unfamiliar team- the Maryland Terrapins- sits tied atop the Big 10 conference. The 2014 team appears to have a flare for the dramatic after a come from behind victory against USF, but its not what the team’s doing on the field that has grabbed the nation’s attention. The Terps will wear quite flashy uniforms for Saturday’s rivalry game with West Virginia.
Under Armor – the Terps uniform sponsor – has made headlines for recent jerseys created for Maryland. This edition will commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Star Spangled Banner” with pieces of the song recreated on the helmet and shoulder pads. Also on the helmet is an outline of Fort McHenry that coincidentally looks like a turtle.
Finally, the captains will wear red belts while the rest of roster will don blue belts with all players having the word “triumph” on the back of the jerseys.
