Through three weeks, the Iowa State Cyclones have had quite the up and down ride, however, its been the off the field problems that have stolen the headlines. A 1-2 record doesn’t tell the entire story for a Cyclones team that has lost numerous players to injuries and off-the-field distractions.
Most recently, head coach Paul Rhodes announced that offensive lineman Jacob Dunning and wide receiver P.J. Harris are both out for the season. Dunning, the backup left tackle, ruptured his patella tendon while Harris broke his leg in Saturday’s 20-17 win over Iowa. The junior wide out has caught nine passes for 55 yards this season.
Still, there is some reason to rejoice for the Cyclones as academic All-Big 12 offensive lineman Jacob Gannon has returned after previously quitting the team. Gannon cited a recent diagnosis of anxiety for the reason behind his rash decision.
