Purdue was always on Swanigan’s radar, but the fact that he flat out de-committed from a Michigan State Spartans program that made it to the Final Four WITHOUT a strong low post presence is a major head-scratcher. What makes the decision all the more confusing is that Swanigan appeared legitimately excited to head to East Lansing and play for head coach Tom Izzo.

Just the same, he can now remain in his home state of Indiana and play for a Boilermakers squad that has gone 212-124 (101-75 Big Ten) and been to two Sweet Sixteens under coach Matt Painter. In 2015, the team went 21-13 (12-6 Big Ten) and suffered a tough overtime lost to Cincinnati in the NCAA tournament’s Round of 64
