The Iowa Hawkeyes announced late Saturday night that C.J. Beathard will start the team’s game against Purdue today. The contest, going on right now, is Beathard’s first career start and a chance to establish himself as the number one quarterback.
Beathard entered last week’s game against Pittsburgh down ten points, and led a stunning comeback after replacing Jake Ruddock.
In his career, Beathard has thrown 38 passes, completing exactly half for a grand total of 297 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. The former three star recruit is a stereotypical pro-style quarterback and should provide the Hawkeye offense a nice spark for a team that has struggled to score points.
Iowa currently holds a 3-1 record as it begins the meat of the Big Ten schedule.
