Michigan State upset Maryland last night to break a three-game losing streak, and nobody seemed more excited than former Spartan and Basketball Hall of Famer Earvin “Magic” Johnson, who took to Twitter to praise the team after the fact.
Spartan Nation: I was glad to see the smiles back on the faces of the @MSU_Basketball team as we beat a very good Maryland team! #Spartans

Spartan Nation: It's exciting to watch our #Spartans when they are playing great defense, rebounding and getting up & down the court!

And Johnson had plenty of reason to praise Michigan State, who won 74-65 and out-rebounded the Terps 46-36 to improve to 17-4 (4-4 Big Ten) on the year. He himself spent two great years in East Lansing and averaged 17.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.9 assists over that stretch and winning a national championship under Jud Heathcote.
Long story short, if this team has Magic’s seal of approval, it must be something special.
