Report: Chris Weidman injured, out of UFC 199 bout vs. Luke Rockhold

If former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman was hoping to reclaim his title, he will have to wait. On Tuesday, Jeremy Botter of FloCombat confirmed a rumor that Weidman was forced from his UFC 199 championship headliner against Luke Rockhold.

There is no word on whether the UFC is in search of a potential replacement.

Last weekend, top contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza scored an impressive win over Vitor Belfort and took very little damage, so if he is ready for the quick turnaround he would be viable opponent.

UFC 199 takes place June 4 at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

If a replacement for Weidman is not found, the co-headliner between bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz and rival Urijah Faber is the logical choice to be promoted to the main event.

We will update you with more information as it becomes available.
