Trenton Thompson Picks Georgia

For the better part of a year it seemed a matter of when, not if, class of 2015 five star recruit Trenton Thompson would commit to Georgia.

The emotional Thompson committed in front of friends and family at Westover High to the tune of the Bulldogs fight song. The Albany native also considered schools such as Auburn, Alabama, and Southern California but Georgia has publicly remained his leader throughout his recruitment.

Thompson reportedly told head coach Mark Richt and staff his intentions to attend UGA during the school’s annual Dawg Night on July 19, but wanted to wait to go public until August 12 to honor his late grandparents on their wedding anniversary. Thompson’s grandparents were big UGA fans themselves, and his announcement is an admirable dedication to their legacy.

The 6’4” 292 pound prospect truly looks like a man amongst boys at the high school level, which made him one of the most sought after prep players in the entire country. His combination of size and athleticism should allow him to terrorize oppenents backfields come the fall of 2015.

Thompson is ranked second overall in the class of 2015 by 247sports.com and the number one ranked player in the state of Georgia.
